It's all over the news: lawmakers have decided to fail and are turning attention to the blame game.
We will continue to petition congress to find ways to compromise, agree, and get something done.
This is not a partisan issue. This is an American issue. If congressional leaders, or "supercommittee" don't find a way to agree on big deficit reductions by this week's deadline then our markets are going to take a huge hit, and we will be sliding down the road to fiscal disaster. Everybody knows it. Please add your voice to people who are telling our leaders to step up and lead, do the right thing for the country. Don't sacrifice the entire nation for your own personal political agenda.
"If you look at what they were writing about Greece two years ago, it's exactly the same kind of thing they're writing about us today." -- Republican Senator Tom Coburn, on CNN
"One thing we've learned from Europe is that these kinds of incremental changes just cause the market to come back and burn you every time. We need to get ahead of this thing." -- Democratic Senator Mark Warner, on CNN

I'm a registered independent. I agree and disagree with a lot of what both Republicans and Democrats say they stand for. I never thought I would hear myself getting political, but things are beyond the pale up in Washington right now. Even a regular guy like me can see it's obvious that our country's huge debt is the biggest threat we face - economically, militarily, and socially. This debt and the interest on it is eating our tax money alive, and unless we deal with it right now it will eat away at our country's way of life and ultimately it will eat away the very freedom that is fundamental to our country.
